We are public servants in the field of workplace health and safety, and through our work we understand, and believe strongly in the importance of representation. We believe it is a fundamental right that Indigenous Australians are being denied without having a Voice to Parliament. To establish and protect the right to true representation, this Voice must be part of the Constitution, not through legislation which can be undone in future. We request that the Government honour its election commitment to a referendum once a model for the Voice has been settled. We ask that legislation for the Voice be passed after a referendum has been held in the next term of Parliament. We believe that the National Voice member model must be a model that ensures all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander grassroot voices are heard.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the Elders past, present and emerging.
