Submission to Co-design process

Hi, I'm a descendant of an English Convict, combined with English and German settlers.
I was born in Brisbane and have lived here the majority of my life. I consider Brisbane
my Home. I acknowledge that Brisbane has been home to Indigenous Australians for
tens of thousands of years.

Why do you think the Uluru Statement from the Heart is important?
It is not acceptable for Indigenous Australians to be mistreated.

Why is it important for Indigenous people to have a say in the matters that affect them?
Indigenous Australians must control their destiny.

Why do you think it's important to enshrine the Voice to Parliament in the Constitution,
rather than include it only in legislation?
Improvements made must be ever growing, not something that can be reduced.

How could a Voice to Parliament improve the lives of your community?
It would be great if Indigenous culture could be shared with more Australians.

Thank you,

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the Elders past, present and emerging.
