As a non-Indigenous Australian, taxpayer and voter, I support the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The actions enshrined in this statement need to be accepted and realised. It is long overdue and simply allows the First Nations peoples of Australia to pursue a process that allows them to reach their full potential. This can only be something that ultimately benefits all Australians and needs to be supported by all Australians, starting with those who can make legislative change. For too long the governments of Australia have been on the wrong side of history, now is the time to correct that. Now is the time to acknowledge, accept and action the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
