SUBMISSION ON INDIGENOUS VOICE DISCUSSION PAPER
We support the concept of an Indigenous Voice.
We support the concept of having both Local and Regional Voice, and National Voice in order to
ensure both local and national issues can be addressed.
We support communities being able to decide the Local and Regional governance structure. If the
communities have had a say in the governance structure, then they are more likely to support its
operations.
Representation for the National Voice should be a combination of representatives from Local and
Regional Voice governance groups, and direct election to ensure local and national issues have
representation.
The concept of an Indigenous Voice should be put to a referendum (consistent with the
Government’s election commitment) once a model for the Indigenous Voice has been defined.
Enabling legislation for an Indigenous Voice should be passed after the referendum has been held.
