Submission for Co-design process

I am working in the solar industry in NSW/ACT and moved to Australia four years ago. My Familie still lives in Germany were I was born 31 years ago.

Why do you think the Uluru Statement from the Heart is important?
Every Australian community should be represented to form a society that acknowledges, understands and supports Australians in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

Why is it important for Indigenous people to have a say in the matters that affect them?
Noone except of our indiginouse communities know if certain ways of living nd support will work for their mob. People are different, cultures are different and even though we can all live together we are conditioned differently and need different support. Of we do not give indigenous people a voice we cannot listen and act.

How could a Voice to Parliament improve the lives of your community?
It can help us understand their needs better, create an inclusive community and minimise the us and them culture by educating everyone in society.

Why do you think it's important to enshrine the Voice to Parliament in the Constitution, rather than include it only in legislation?
If it is not in the constitution it could change again. It has to be part of the roots in our nation so we can all live according to it.

Coming from Germany I know how it is to grow up and feel guilty for thing you have not done yourself. We have learnt about our countries failure and what we can do today to ensure we treat other cultures better in our country. I was gobsmacked when I moved to austraila that not only Noone acknowledges the mistreatment of indiginouse people in the past but more that there is no voice for the first nation people.
