Co-design process: Submission

I am citizen of this country now called Australia. I am a mother, a person of Christian faith and an employee of a University with its main campus in Sydney.

Why do you think the Uluru Statement from the Heart is important?
The Uluru statement of the heart is a revelation of truth. In the light of truth things unseen are revealed and as we walk in the light we walk in God’s plan. I feel strongly that truth should be told and the years of misinformation and denial of our ancient history should be revealed and embraced. We have a shared ancient history to be celebrated.

Why is it important for Indigenous people to have a say in the matters that affect them?
First Nations people should be elevated to give them power to change the course of our nations history and their people. Since colonisation First Nations people have been dismissed, marginalised & the truth of our history has not been acknowledged. Please now is the time to choose to live in truth and enable all people who inhabited this land before colonisation to participate in our democracy.

How could a Voice to Parliament improve the lives of your community?
Let’s embrace our long, rich history. The blessing of truth of our history will flow to the current generation and the generations to come. Let’s be known for our generosity.

Why do you think it's important to enshrine the Voice to Parliament in the Constitution, rather than include it only in legislation?
The constitution is the blue print of our democracy and who we are as a people. The constitution reveals the truth and protections and voice for our egalitarian society. If our first people’s are not recognised in it, it is by nature deficient and does not recognise the rich culture of our nation.
