Submission to Co-design process

I have been involved in research, campaigns and advocacy activities for Indigenous people since the 80s - mainly across WA, FNQ, NT but also the Torres Strait Islands.

Why do you think the Uluru Statement from the Heart is important?
Because it is from the heart!!!

Why is it important for Indigenous people to have a say in the matters that affect them?
A feeling of control is essential for anyone - regardless of who they are or where they are from.

Why do you think it's important to enshrine the Voice to Parliament in the Constitution, rather than include it only in legislation?
So that it can't be easily dismissed or ignored.

How could a Voice to Parliament improve the lives of your community?
The voice could not then be silenced as it so often it is today after a brief time in the media.
