As a citizen, voter, son of an Order of Australia Member, and ancestor of immigrants who were
offered opportunities not offered to indigenous people at the time, I would like to register my strong
desire, that in establishing the National Indigenous Voice:

• Australia put the decision to a referendum once the discussion paper submissions have been
analysed and the nature of the “Voice” has been settled.
• If such a referendum passes, the federal government must move quickly to enact enabling
legislation and enshrine the role of the “Voice” in national Parliament in law.
• In deciding members for the “Voice”, this legislation should require that younger people and
previously unheard Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the same chance of
being selected as established leadership figures.

Kind regards,
