I was born in Vietnam and came to Australia with my family when I was a baby.
Why do you think the Uluru Statement from the Heart is important?
I think it is important to acknowledge the full history of this country and to give respect to the Indigenous peoples of these lands.
Why do you think it's important to enshrine the Voice to Parliament in the Constitution, rather than include it only in legislation?
It is a sign of recognition and respect expressed through the the governing systems of this country.
How could a Voice to Parliament improve the lives of your community?
It I think it would lead to a deeper understanding of this place and of the possibilities to create something new together, unique to this community and all its peoples.
Why is it important for Indigenous people to have a say in the matters that affect them?
Colonisation has had and continues to have a devastating impact on Indigenous people. A lot of suffering is caused by people taking what is not theirs and then entrenching the suffering with systems that continue to cause harm. It's high time Indigenous people have the recognised right to have a say in the matters that affect them.
