I cannot say enough just how strongly I believe it is time to fully recognise the First Peoples of this country by giving them the voice they have long been denied, Such action is not only a necessarily just action - but it is also necessary or the benefit of this nation. There is so much wisdom that has been silenced in the past and which I strongly believe that this country - and the world - needs so we that we all move towards a truly civil and sustainable society
I want the Government to honour its election commitment to a referendum once a model for the Voice has been settled
and for enabling legislation for the Voice to be passed after a referendum has been held in the next term of Parliament
I believe that only a membership model for the National Voice would ensure that previously unheard Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the same chance of being selected as established leadership figures.
